Infinite Warfare "didn't resonate" with fans, 2017 title to return to "roots"

It "wasn't the success we planned", CEO Eric Hirshberg said during an investors call on February 9, 2017, and the next entry to Activision's annual "Call of Duty" franchise will "go back to its roots", he anticipated. Each title in the series now has a three-year development period, so this year's team, San Francisco-based studio Sledgehammer, will have been well into development by the time fans started expressing contempt for Infinite Warfare's setting. That theme continued until Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare brought the series into present day, and since then, the series has stepped further into the future with each new installment. But, on the other hand, Infinite Warfare was a pretty big disappointment.

Okay, so maybe saying that Infinite Warfare didn't sell very well is a bit of hyperbole, since Call of Duty was still the top gaming franchise in 2016.

In the meantime Activision will be releasing more DLC for the more popular Black Ops III. While he has no second thoughts about the game being extremely innovative and of high quality, he stated that the game underperformed and couldn't meet Activision's expectations.

AT&T expected to offer the LG Watch Sport, Watch Style
The LG Watch Style comes in three design variations, Gold, Silver , and Black, all with the ability to swap in any 18mm straps. Users will also be able to make calls through the watch and it will support the same number as the device it is paired with.

Although Activision did not reveal anything else, some new rumours surfaced today about this upcoming sequel to Destiny.

This could be the reason why the 2017 "Call of Duty" game will be different.

So the issue with Infinite Warfare isn't so much the "setting", nor is it the "non-traditional" nature of its multiplayer game play.

Oil Prices Lower on Stronger Dollar and Supply Concerns
Crude oil futures were lower Tuesday morning ahead of data that may show USA inventories continued to rise last week. Oil is priced in dollars and it becomes more expensive for holders of other currencies as the greenback appreciates.

The game is being made by Sledgehammer, as Thomas mentioned. Instead, Call of Duty will return with "traditional content we know our fans will love", shared Tippl. EA already followed that route with the recent release of Battlefield 1, which is set in World War 1.

Activision Blizzard Inc.'s fourth-quarter profit climbed 60 percent to $254 million as more people embraced a video game line-up that includes "Call of Duty, "Candy Crush", and "World of Warcraft" during the holiday season". While not officially announced yet, Sledgehammer games' 2017 Call of Duty is taking a different approach than the direction of the series would seem to demand.
