Russian Federation deescalated clash between pro-Syrian, Turkish-backed forces near al-Bab

But despite that diplomacy, Turkey's military has refuted claims that it mistakenly told Russian jets to bomb the building where the three Turkish soldiers were positioned.

Hours earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the strike was based on coordinates provided by the Turkish side.

Turkey and Russian Federation on Friday disagreed over the events that led to a deadly incident of friendly fire, but agreed to strengthen their military coordination.

Peskov also explained that the servicemen were killed "as a result of incoordination in Russian Air Force airstrikes against terrorists during the joint operation to liberate al-Bab", suggesting a level of cooperation between Turkish and Russian forces in Syria.
