The CEO of Tesla made the offer on Twitter, and has been talking figures with Mike Cannon-Brookes, the co-founder of Australian software maker Atlassian, who first asked how serious Mr Musk was. Musk told the billionaire that Tesla could install the PowerPack system and get it working within 100 days from contract signature. You can see their replies in the tweet embedded below, and we think that their negotiations are serious. Mr Cannon-Brookes then asked for seven days to arrange finance and politics. Musk indicated Tesla would charge $25 million for the storage system, and the government sounds interested in at least exploring the idea, reports Reuters.
After this, Australian Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young joined the conversation, inviting Musk to a discussion on the matter.
In September, after storms collapsed electricity towers and left the entire state without power, Australia's premier Malcolm Turnbull called the blackout a "wake-up call" for politicians eyeing renewable energy targets he deemed "completely unrealistic".
